THE NOTARY HOTEL, AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION, WILL WELCOME ITS FIRST GUESTS JULY 2019
Located In Philadelphia's Former City Hall Annex, New Hotel Fuses Philly Soul With 1920s-Era Grandeur
(Philadelphia, PA, May 2019) - Opening its doors July 2019 in Philadelphia's historic Penn Square, The Notary Hotel, a new Autograph Collection hotel, is a place where 1920s-era grandeur meets modern hospitality. Located in the former City Hall Annex, just steps from the Philadelphia Convention Center and Reading Terminal Market, the 499-room property fuses the city's unique soul with its historic legacy, welcoming travelers and locals alike to enjoy a distinctly Philadelphia experience.
"We're thrilled to be welcoming our first guests this summer," said the hotel's general manager, Jim McSwigan. "Our team has worked diligently to create a hospitality experience worthy of this iconic building and the vibrancy of this great city. The end result is a hotel that will leave its own distinguished mark on the city for years to come."
Deep Philadelphia Roots
The Notary's story is extraordinary. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building dates back to 1926. It was designed by prolific architect Philip Johnson (who also designed the original Philadelphia Convention Hall) in the Classical Revival Style. For decades, the City Hall Annex was where a Notary's stamp was given to signify the start of a marriage, a business or a new journey. Now stands a destination with a different brand of service, but with an enduring mission of creating notable moments for its guests. The signature tool of a notary, the stamp of approval, will serve as the hotel's thematic heart - from the custom seal that concierges will stamp onto guests' card sleeves, to the lobby retail store's curated collection of local products that have received the staff's "Philadelphia Stamp of Excellence."
Where New & Old Intertwine
With Premier Project Management leading the process, The Notary Hotel will seamlessly blend true city favorites with a global palette, introducing an inspired, international attitude that feels both right on time and timeless. The hotel has retained the building's rich historic ambiance, with a combination of original finishes and stylish upgrades, including marble floors, chandeliers, coffered plaster ceilings, and decorative bronze molding. Rooms are adorned in jewel tone hues of deep blues and greys, with splashes of vivid sapphire blue and emerald green throughout. The lobby brings together elements of local history and culture, thanks to a collection of antique typewriters alongside pedestaled bronze art sculptures of vintage hats and a largescale neon LOVE sign, a nod to the city's iconic LOVE Statue. The focus on Philly (past, present and future) is completed by a curated lobby soundtrack that draws from Philadelphia's storied musical heritage, with tunes ranging from classic hard bop jazz to family friendly hip hop. The hotel accommodations feature expansive ceilings, custom upholstery, sophisticated décor, new 55" Smart TVs and luxurious bathrooms.
Philadelphia's New Event Destination
With 11,000 square feet of conference space throughout 12 event rooms, the hotel offers substantial meeting and banquet options. In particular, the grand 3,000-square foot Junipers Ballroom positions The Notary Hotel as an enticing Philadelphia business location. The Notary Hotel is ideal for weddings, as well, allowing couples to select from an array of unique wedding packages to host a one-of-a-kind celebration in Philadelphia. A stress-free planning process is guaranteed with the help of the hotel's expert event planning team.
A Culinary Hotspot
Sabroso+Sorbo, The Notary Hotel's signature restaurant, will feature a multi-course Spanish tapas menu and an impressive range of house-made sangrias, extensive Spanish wine list, shareable cocktails and craft beers, all offered in a stylish setting. For a more intimate experience, a private dining room, which can accommodate groups up to twelve, will be available. Additionally, the on-site coffee house will serve signature blends and single-origin coffees from famed local brewer La Colombe.
