Meets 6 times
Mondays, March 2-April 20 (no class March 9, April 13), 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Instructor: Linda Freedman
Medium: Painting and drawing
All levels are welcome whether you paint or draw. Beginners will be taught how to "see" and not just look. Questions like "Where do I start?" will be answered. You will learn what makes an interesting composition, how to shade and how to give your pictures character and depth. Simple set-ups will be brought in by the instructor. Beginning painters will learn color theory and mixing, how to handle paint, composition and basic techniques. More advanced students will continue to hone their skills through a combination of painting from real life as well as the classic method of artistic learning: copying other artists work including painters and photographers. Demonstrations and individual instruction will be given to each student. You will progress at your own pace in a relaxed atmosphere.
All classes are held in the George D. Widener Studio, formerly the carriage house for the Woodmere estate. Transformed into a studio with north light, easy access, and free parking. Woodmere's studio provides a professional setting for a variety of art experiences. Classes and workshops are taught by the finest professional artists and instructors in the region. Registration is on a first-come, first served basis.
Woodmere Art Museum membership is not required for enrollment in studio classes, but Woodmere members receive discounted enrollment fees. If you are interested in the benefits of a Woodmere membership please click here.
